Situated in open countryside less than 3 km from Valle de Abdalajís, this modern country house has been designed in the style of a traditional Andalusian cortijo, incorporating features of local architecture with the comforts of contemporary construction.

The property occupies an elevated position with panoramic views across the surrounding hills and farmland. The house is arranged over two floors, with outside, covered terraces, an open courtyard, a swimming pool and established gardens. The remainder of the plot consists of gently sloping rural land.

The property has mains electricity, water and internet connections, gas-fired central heating, air conditioning and a wood-burning stove.

The House

The main entrance is approached through a covered terrace, leading into an entrance hall and the principal living accommodation.

The sitting room has a high vaulted ceiling, giving the room a sense of space and allowing natural light to enter. A wood-burning stove provides heating, while doors open directly towards the swimming pool and outdoor terraces.

Adjoining the sitting room is a separate dining room, connected to a fitted kitchen designed as a contemporary interpretation of a traditional Andalusian country kitchen. The kitchen has made-to-measure cabinetry and an adjoining utility room.

Two double bedrooms are situated on the ground floor, both with fitted wardrobes and en-suite bathrooms. A small guest WC completes the accommodation on this level.

A broad staircase with a custom-made wrought-iron balustrade leads to the first floor.

The upper landing provides access to a further double bedroom, which opens onto a private terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside. There is also a single bedroom and a family bathroom.

Additional Buildings

There are several ancillary buildings within the grounds, at present used for storage and workshop purposes.

Outside

The house enjoys uninterrupted views across the surrounding Andalusian countryside. The gardens around the house are established with fruit trees, shrubs and ornamental planting. Covered terraces and an open courtyard provide a variety of outdoor spaces, with areas of sun and shade at different times of day.

A private swimming pool is surrounded by a paved sunbathing area, with access from the principal sitting room.

There is also a barbecue area and additional terraces adjoining the house.

Beyond the landscaped surroundings, the land extends into open countryside, preserving the sense of space and the views that are a principal feature of the property.

Location

The property is situated close to Valle de Abdalajís, a traditional white village in the mountainous interior of Málaga province, between the Guadalhorce Valley and the Antequera plain.

The village lies beneath the limestone cliffs of the Sierra de Abdalajís, a landscape of rugged mountains, olive groves and agricultural valleys. Its position at the foot of the mountains has made it a centre for outdoor activities, particularly paragliding, climbing and walking.

Valle de Abdalajís retains much of its traditional Andalusian character, with narrow streets, whitewashed houses, small squares and a historic centre. The village has a number of churches and buildings reflecting its agricultural past.

The surrounding area includes El Chorro and the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, where the Caminito del Rey follows a route through one of Andalucía's best-known limestone gorges.

The nearby towns of Álora and Antequera provide access to larger commercial centres, while Málaga and the Mediterranean coast are within reach.

Access

By a good public track approximately 3 kms long.

Services

Valle de Abdalajís has local shops, bars, restaurants, a health centre and other everyday facilities.

A wider range of supermarkets, schools, medical services and commercial facilities is available in Álora and Antequera, both approximately 30 minutes away by car.

Antequera also has a railway station on Spain's high-speed rail network.
