Eco friendly retreat centre situated in beautiful landscape, totally private, no acoustic or light pollution.
The property consists of a large country house arranged around a central patio. There is a large lounge, a dining room, a spacious kitchen, downstairs toilets, a library, nine bedrooms and ten bathrooms, with a separate two-bedroom accommodation located on the upper floor for the owners. The owners accommodation also has a very large roof terrace. There is underfloor heating throughout the house.
Totally off-grid, the property enjoys solar electricity and water heating. The batteries are only two years old and work very efficiently, generating 3.5Kw. They should last another ten years. In case of several days without sunlight there is a back-up generator which is seldom used. There is ample water to the property from two sources, one of which is drinking water, the other is used for irrigation. There is an entitlement for the drinking water source of 5 hours every Saturday and this is stored in a 100.000 litre tank. There is a similar entitlement for irrigation water although in practice it is available constantly as no other property uses it.
Outside, there is a large private pool, terraces, storeroom and a former chapel now used as a second store room.
Being off-grid, the running costs are very low, particularly as necessary help is largely provided by volunteers.
The lush land is mostly gently sloping and has pathways to various spots from which to enjoy the spectacular views.
Access from the town is by a track of 4.7 kms, of which 1.1 Kms is asphalt and the rest is hard stone, bumpy but suitable for ordinary cars. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes to access all services such as shops, banks, medical facilities etc.
