Off-Grid Eco Retreat Centre in Complete Privacy
Set within a beautiful natural landscape, this eco-friendly retreat centre offers total privacy with no acoustic or light pollution. Surrounded by gently sloping land and open views, the property provides a peaceful and self-sufficient environment, ideal for retreats, group activities or alternative rural living.
The estate is centred around a substantial country house arranged around a traditional central patio, creating a calm and enclosed heart to the property.
Main House & Accommodation
The house is generously proportioned and thoughtfully designed for group use. It includes:
-
Large lounge
-
Dining room
-
Spacious kitchen
-
Downstairs toilets
-
Library
-
Nine bedrooms
-
Ten bathrooms
On the upper floor there is a separate two-bedroom owners’ accommodation, providing privacy from the main guest areas. This private apartment also benefits from a very large roof terrace.
Underfloor heating runs throughout the house, ensuring comfort in cooler months.
Energy & Water Independence
The property is completely off-grid. Electricity and water heating are powered by solar energy, with battery storage installed only two years ago and generating approximately 3.5 kW. The batteries are expected to have a remaining lifespan of around ten years. In periods of prolonged cloud cover, a back-up generator is available, though it is rarely required.
Water is supplied from two separate sources: one designated for drinking water and the other for irrigation. There is an official entitlement to five hours of drinking water supply each Saturday, which is stored in a 100,000-litre tank. A similar entitlement applies to the irrigation source, although in practice it is continuously available as no other property draws from it.
Thanks to its off-grid infrastructure and the involvement of volunteers for much of the support work, running costs are notably low.
Outdoor Areas & Land
Outside, the property includes:
-
Large private swimming pool
-
Terraces for outdoor gatherings
-
Storeroom
-
Former chapel currently used as a second storage space
The surrounding land is lush and mostly gently sloping, with pathways leading to various viewpoints from which to enjoy the wide-reaching scenery.
Access & Services
Access from the nearest town is via a 4.7 km track, of which approximately 1.1 km is asphalt and the remainder hard stone. Although uneven in parts, it is suitable for ordinary cars and takes around 15 minutes to reach all essential services, including shops, banks and medical facilities.
A rare opportunity to acquire a fully operational, self-sufficient retreat centre in a secluded natural setting — offering privacy, low running costs and established infrastructure for group use.
