Description

Stunning well maintained country property of 5 separate buildings: main house, 3 casitas and a music/yoga studio.

This beautiful property is ideal as a permanent home for anyone wanting to run courses or retreats while living in a stunning environment away from the noise of urban life but not cut off from access to it. There is only a short 300 metre track leading directly to the property from a well-maintained asphalt road.

Although not close to any village or town, there is a rural school, restauarant and Saturday farmer's market only a ten minute walk away. At the entrance level of the property there is a dining table under a large walnut tree. At a level below this is another table beside the plunge pool (4m x 3.5m) and on the south side of the main house is a delightful covered porch with outside kitchen and dining area (including pizza oven).

The accommodation is arranged as follows:

Main House: double height, open lounge, kitchen and dining area with open fireplace and access to the outside kitchen/dining area. There is also a wood-fired stove which heats the central heating system. Access to a second smaller lounge with a very pretty reading niche and another open fire. Off of this up three steps is the study. Also on this floor, between the two lounges there is a bathroom and a storeroom which also houses the laundry and the modern lithium battery system. Upstairs there is a minstrels gallery overlooking the lounge and kitchen, two double bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Casita One:  Outside patio with table and chairs, lounge/kitchen with log-burning stove, double bedroom and bathroom.

Casita Two: Outside patio with table and chairs, lounge/kitchen with log-burning stove and dining table, double bedroom, second bedroom with two songle beds and bathroom.

Casita Three: Outside patio with table and chairs, sun loungers, lounge/kitchen with built-in log-burner and dining table, double bedroom with platform area used as a single bed and bathroom.

The Casitas are sold fully-furnished with all equipment.

Music Studio: Fully sound insualted, both walls and roof, large enough for a whole band (49 m2) with its own bathroom and outside patio with table and chairs. There is plumbing for a kitchen so this building could be converted into additioanl accommodation very easily. As currently configured it is ideal not only for music but also for yoga, dance, painting etc. etc.

Outside there are so many delightful places to sit and dream. The property is perfect for a writer's retreat.

At a level below the house are seven plots of mostly flat land, totalling 1.3 hectares, ideal for growing vegetables or for keeping horses. It may not be possible to build a stone stable as the property is situated in a natural park but a wooden shelter would be possible and there is abundant water. A spring emerges immediately outside the property boundary and no other property uses it. The spring runs all through the year. Water is stored in a large deposit beside which is a picnic table and hammock for lazy afternoons. The water for the house also arrives frm a spring approximately one kilometre away and is provided by the natural park authority.

Electricity is provided by a 5Kw solar system. Internet arrives by satellite. A 100 Mbps system is currently installed which can be upgraded for faster access.

This is not a property suitable as a holiday home. It is a one hour drive to the nearest large town, Cazorla, and three hours to Granada, the nearest city. It is ideal for someone who wants to change their lifestyle, to live permanently off the beaten track, but not entirely isolated. There is a real community, based around the school and market, just ten minutes walk away, and in summer there are cultural activities - a great way to get to know the owners of other cortijos in the Sierra.

The nearest airport is Granada, three hours away. Málaga airport is four and a half hours distant.

Buying Procedure and Costs

The details listed above are believed to be correct but are offered merely as a guide and do not form part of any future contract. If you are unfamiliar with buying property in Spain you may wish to read our guide to the buying procedure.
As in all countries there are further costs incurred when purchasing a property which are not included in the price stated above. These are the purchase tax, buyer's share of agency commission, notary and registry. Together these constitute approximately 11% in Andalucia, 13% in Extremadura and 14% in the Comunidad de Valencia. Please remember to take account of this when budgeting.
